Primarily a family resort, La Plagne doesn’t have as lively an après ski reputation as some other resorts such as Tignes or St Anton. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of places to relax and enjoy a vin chaud after a great day on the slopes. As the resort consists of multiple small hamlets, certain parts of the town are more spirited than others. Belle Plagne and Plagne Centre are the best places to head to if you are looking for rowdier après scenes.
Mark Warner’s Chalet Hotel Christina is ideally located at the side of the pistes and close to all of the action in the centre of the resort. Take advantage of the first floor roof terrace and bar and enjoy a refreshing après ski drink in the sun while watching the last of the skiers coming in from the slopes. With a relaxing atmosphere and stunning mountain views, this is the ideal place for those looking to relax and unwind and enjoy the beautiful alpine setting. For families this is a prime location to enjoy time with friends while keeping an eye on the children playing in the snow below.
Those in search of international beats and lively atmosphere should head to La Plagne Centre and Belle Plagne where you will find the majority of the bars and pubs. The higher of the hamlets in the resort, these areas have a definite buzz throughout the winter season. With live music and large decks overlooking the pistes, Scotty’s Bar is a fun place to let enjoy après drinks with friends while surrounded by the stunning mountain scenery. The British-run bar also hosts regular party nights during the week if you are looking to continue the party throughout the evening.
For those looking to try something new for après, Oxygene Ski School offers an evening of skiing once a week throughout the season. Take the last cable car up the mountain and enjoy evening drinks and food from the top of the mountain. After a delicious mountain meal, skiers and snowboarders then make their way back down to the town by moonlight. This magical experience is definitely not to be missed when visiting the resort.
