If you haven't sailed in a while, then this one hour session will refresh your memory and skills.

Best for: Returning sailors who want to quickly rebuild confidence and refresh their skills before getting back out on the water.

Introduction to Sailing

For those who have not sailed before, learn the basics which will have you out on the water in no time, and enjoy the thrills of sailing a singlehanded dinghy on your own or learn in a crew dinghy with the instructor on board.

Best for: Solo or family beginners sailing holidays who want to learn the fundamentals and gain the confidence to sail independently or with guidance from an RYA approved instructor.

Introduction to Sailing Plus

A further three hours of informal instruction, that leads on from where your Introduction to sailing sessions ended. Group session with a maximum of 6 people.

Improver Sailing Clinic

Keen to progress your sailing skills and enhance your technique? These sessions are designed for sailors with an RYA Level 2 or equivalent qualification to improve their skills. In the clinics, you'll improve your boat handling, be introduced to sailing Lasers, dinghy racing and catamaran sailing.

Improver Sailing Clinics are a fantastic way of getting aspects of your RYA further courses signed off. So, please remember to bring along your RYA logbook and your instructors can help you get signed off.

Best for: RYA Level 2 (or equivalent) sailors

Improver Sailing Plus Clinic

Aimed at experienced sailors wishing to advance their sailing skills. Our instructors will tailor these sessions according to your requirements, whether it be better Laser techniques or learning to trapeze. 

Improver Sailing Plus Clinics are a fantastic way of getting aspects of your RYA further courses signed off. So, please remember to bring along your RYA logbook and your instructors can help you get skills signed off.

Best for: Experienced sailors

Available at all resorts for all levels of sailor, this lesson is tailored to your needs and is for both adults and children. Booked in resort with a maximum of two participants. 

Best for: Individuals or pairs of any ability

Parent and child sailing lesson

Perfect for a beginner family sailing holiday, enjoy a gentle sail with an instructor who will help you build confidence on the water while learning to sail together with your child.

Best for: Families with younger children

RYA Start Sailing (Level 1)

The beginner's course. Run throughout the course of the week, Start Sailing teaches the fundamentals of sailing. By the end of the course, participants will have a basic understanding of sailing across wind, turning the boat and how to recover from a capsize.

Best for: Complete beginners

RYA Basic Skills (Level 2)

Taking you to the next level, this course consolidates the skills learnt on the Start Sailing course, building confidence and sets out the foundations of sailing. By the end of it you'll be a competent sailor in good conditions.  Entry level – Sailing skills to the standard of Level 1 Start Sailing.

Best for: Improvers who have completed RYA Level 1

RYA Sailing Stage 1 (Age 6–13 years)

Introduces younger sailors to the basics of launching and recovering, steering, parts of the boat and basic sailing.

Best for: Younger beginners

RYA Sailing Stage 2 (Age 6–13 years)

Increases the ability of the young sailor's basic sailing skills, rope work and collision avoidance. At the end of the course they will be able to tack and control boat speed and leave and return to shore. 

Best for: Young sailors

RYA Sailing Stage 3 (Age 8–13 years)

Required experience – Sailing skills to the standard of Stage 2. Focuses on rigging, launching and recovery, sailing techniques, capsize recovery and sailing theory. By the end of the course the young sailor will be able to launch and sail a dinghy around a triangle with confidence in moderate conditions. 

Best for: Confident young sailors

RYA Sailing Stage 4 (Age 8–13 years)

Required experience – Sailing skills to the standard of Stage 3. Teaches sailing techniques including launch, mooring and recovery manoeuvres in crewed boats and recovering man overboard.

Best for: Experienced young sailors

Sunset Challenge

Round off your day on the water with the Mark Warner Sunset Challenge, a fun and friendly sailing race held in the early evening. Open to all abilities, it’s a great opportunity to put your skills into practice, enjoy some light-hearted competition, and sail against the backdrop of a stunning sunset.

The Big Race

Round off your week on the water with The Big Race, a series of three fun yet competitive races held on your final afternoon. Whether you’re newly confident or an experienced sailor, it’s your chance to put your skills to the test, race against fellow guests, and enjoy a memorable end to your sailing holiday. All levels are welcome to enter, conditions allowing.

Sailing Regatta Weeks

Sailing Level Required
RYA Start Sailing Level 1 or Young Sailors Scheme Stage 1 & 2 (at least) or equivalent standard is required for entry to this regatta week.

There is no charge for the week, just make sure you select the Regatta Week option when you are choosing your activities during the booking process online or over the phone, so you don't miss out.
