Since opening in May 2019 Paleros Beach Resort has quickly established itself as a great watersports destination for families, and sailing has quickly become a favourite amongst guests.
When you have sunshine guaranteed almost every day, private tuition and free lesson options, sailing conditions that professionals dream of and a beach just waiting to be explored, learning to sail in this part of Sardinia is something magical.
For anyone staying with us at Paleros Beach Resort, you’ll be happy to know that we offer sailing as one of the many watersports guests can take advantage of. With the conditions to learn, the right guidance from RYA instructors and a sense of adventure when your skills build up, there’s no better way to learn how to sail than here on holiday with us.
It may only have a transfer time of 30 minutes from Preveza Airport, but you could be forgiven for thinking you’re a million miles away in paradise when you get used to the sailing conditions at the resort.
The position of the resort gives it the feeling of being in a landlocked bay which naturally stops any harsh winds from interrupting while you’re learning to sail. Most beach resorts around the Med will sit between 2-4 on the Beaufort scale, but here we rarely get beyond 3. This makes for sublime winds and waves to get you used to navigating a sailboat.
Paleros Beach Resort offers free tuition and additional courses so you can choose to try and up your sailing game in an official capacity. Group sailing classes take place five days a week and are tailored to the ability of the class, with a maximum of six people per group. From the introduction to refresher and improvement classes, there are free lessons available all week.
Guests that are new to sailing will be able to enjoy up to 3 hours of tuition free, while guests who have had some experience with sailing before can take a free hour to refresh their memory. More experienced guests can work on their technique with a fantastic five free sessions lasting 1 ½ hours each.
RYA instructors at Paleros Beach Resort can take guests from novices to sailing experts in no time at all with courses to match specific skill levels and age groups.
We have three RYA courses that can be pre-booked for £70 here in the UK.
RYA Start Sailing (Level 1) helps newbies learn theory and practical skills.
RYA Basic Skills (Level 2) shows how to rig and sail in all directions – great for building confidence
RYA Better Sailing (Level 3) hones in on improving ability and giving an idea of what bookable advanced modules offer.
These courses run over four days of your stay.
RYA courses for kids range from ages 6 to 13 and have a similar structure to the adult sailing plans, with a Level 4 course substituting some of the advanced adult modules. Kid’s courses are £50 and can be pre-booked in the UK.
For families who have never sailed before and want to see if they’ll enjoy it before signing up to an RYA course, you can book a private parent and child lesson with an instructor when you get to the resort.
If you’re coming back to Paleros or have already taken part in RYA courses, you are eligible to sign up for some of the advanced adult modules for £70 per person per class. Over four half-day sessions, you’ll be able to learn seamanship skills, how to sail with spinnakers and how to race a sailboat.
Private lessons are for a maximum of 2 participants and are tailored to your needs and goals. Each 1-hour session is bookable in the resort.
Paleros Beach resort has so many watersports available for guests that you’ll have a hard time staying out of the water. See everything you can do when staying at the resort right here.
