A ski holiday with children made easy by Mark Warner

15 Sep 2019

Planning a ski holiday with your children is one of the most magical experiences you can give them as a child and you’ll surely be the best parents on the planet by taking them away to the snow (every child’s dream is to be taken to a winter wonderland). Introducing children to skiing or snowboarding is a great way to get them involved in a sport and to give them an interest in a unique activity.

Travelling abroad with children can be quite tedious, let alone thinking about all the other aspects of the holiday that need to be planned in advance for a successful trip, especially a ski holiday. We all know there’s much more to think about when travelling with children compared to travelling with adults. You can suddenly feel overwhelmed thinking about it all – it’s not just about organising your own ski equipment and simply hitting the slopes for the day anymore, you have to figure out the dynamics of how your children are going to spend the day.

We specialise in family ski holidays making planning holidays with the kids hassle-free and enjoyable, rather than stressful. We understand all of the elements required to ensure parents and children’s needs are fulfilled, so holidays with kids are a breeze and you’ll have peace of mind to fully enjoy great days on the slopes!

Family friendly chalet hotels

Our chalet hotel Chalet Hotel L'Ecrin is ideal for families planning a ski holiday. It is situated in a prime location in the French Alps, a short walk from the centre of Claret village above Tignes Le Lac, close to slopes and amenities. Chalet Hotel L'Ecrin resort in France is a great choice for families.

Chalet Hotel L’Ecrin

Our flagship Chalet Hotel L’Ecrin located in Tignes has recently added baby club to their childcare service, making it easier to take a ski trip with babies. This valuable part of our childcare offering gives you way more flexibility on your ski trip, where you can leave your little ones in the hands of trusted, professionals, so you can do lots of skiing.

What are the benefits of a Mark Warner family ski holiday?

  • Childcare & in-house crèches
  • Room options
  • Resort transfers
  • Slopes/Ski & snowboarding schools

Childcare

Our market-leading childcare is what makes us pioneers of great family holidays, with professional nannies who have relevant qualifications and experience. We operate a comprehensive childcare programme for babies and school children. The age range we cater for is between 4 months and 12 years old, so even if you’ve just had a baby, don’t worry you still have access to our childcare service.

Having the option to leave your kids with our childcare team gives you the luxury of having more time on the slopes to do lots of skiing. If your children are little skiers, our professional nannies take the kids to ski school and pick them up which is such a big time-saving benefit for you. Our childcare service is arranged so it aligns with ski school times, enabling our nannies to complete drop off and collect the children in time for a supervised lunch.

Our in-house crèches are fully equipped full of toys, providing endless hours of fun with our passionate and friendly nannies. The children are also taken out to play in the snow, so they never have the opportunity to become bored.

Our childcare service even extends into the evening time with our special supervised listening service, so parents are free to enjoy the evenings and the wonderful après ski around the resort, knowing your kids are in good hands.

To ensure that your children’s appetite is always satisfied, we provide high tea every day along with breakfast, lunch and dinner. High tea is served every day from 5pm. During school holidays, there is an early dinner slot for children at 7pm.

Another highlight of our childcare facilities is that we provide a parent’s kitchen which helps hugely with late night feeds for babies or for younger children who require drinks or snacks. Parents have access to this kitchen to store their essentials for their younger children.

Room options

We offer a large selection of family rooms so you’ll be sure to find the right room type to suit all of the family’s needs and you won’t have to fret over the limited choice of rooms available; allowing your children to be close to you so essentially it feels like a family home abroad. You won’t feel restricted when you come to book your room for your family ski holiday.

Take a look at the type of rooms you can choose from below:

  • Twin room (ensuite bath)
  • Twin room (with extra bed & ensuite bath)
  • Double room (ensuite bath)
  • Double room (with extra bed & ensuite bath)
  • Large double room with bunks
  • Double with bunks
  • Interconnecting rooms
  • Family suite
  • Family double (ensuite bath)
  • Family twin
  • Superior triple
  • Mezzanine room (ensuite shower)

These room types range from accommodating between 2-4 adults along with 2-4 children.

Transfers

The highlight of a Mark Warner skiing holiday is that we take care of everything including transfers to and from the airport. This is a huge relief when travelling with children. As you would expect transfer times from the airport to ski resorts in the mountains to be quite long, our transfer times are quite reasonable with them being no more than 3 hours.  We ensure all of our transfers consist of a break halfway through the journey where the coach stops at a service station, so you can buy some food and everyone can get out and stretch their legs – this breaks up the journey and makes it more enjoyable.

Slopes

Walking to slopes that are miles away from the chalet hotel is never a fun process with children; their little legs do not have the capacity to walk at your pace and it can be quite tiring when you also have to carry your ski equipment.

All of our hotels are situated close to ski lifts and bus stops so you can get to the slopes easily. The bus is a free service which operates at our resorts with bus stops dotted close to our chalet hotels. Some of our chalet hotels are also situated in ski in ski out locations with them overlooking the piste and ski lifts which is super convenient for families, so you don’t have to walk very far at all to start your day of skiing. You’ll also find ski and snowboarding schools located nearby our chalet hotels which helps massively with timekeeping on your family ski holiday.

The location of all of our hotels with its close proximity to the slopes makes skiing with the family an enjoyable experience and means that you don’t have to spend lots of time getting to the slopes or ski and snowboarding schools – a huge bonus when you have children.

So if you have not taken a ski holiday yet with the kids or have been putting it off because of the anticipated worries, we hope we’ve shed some good light on why taking a ski holiday with the kids will be well worth it and will be an incredible experience for all.
