Gorgeously located at the foot of Mont Blanc in the in the Aosta Valley ski area, Courmayeur takes a very Italian approach to skiing, with long leisurely lunches in addition to great snow, varied terrain and fabulous scenery.
Courmayeur’s excellent snow record is backed up by an impressive snow-making system and very efficient lift system. The ski area has a selection of easy and intermediate runs sprinkled with welcoming huts, each with a panoramic sun-deck and spectacular views.
For stronger skiers, the seemingly endless possibilities include famous off-piste runs such as the Vallée Blanche into Chamonix and the Toula Glacier in the shadow of Mont Blanc, and access to some of the best-value heli-skiing in Europe (in the company of a a mountain guide). The Vallée Blanche glacial descent into Chamonix is one you'll never forget. It’s worth noting that those booking ski holidays in Courmayeur have the opportunity to venture into two other ski areas as well – from La Thuile you can ski to La Rosière in the Espace San Bernardo.
A popular weekend chose with Italians driving up from Milan, Turin and Genoa, Courmayeur has the advantage of being uncrowded during the week, meaning you have a good chance of having the slopes all to yourself.
