Cross country skiing in Méribel

For cross country skiers, Méribel is hard to beat in terms of location and variety. With over 90km of routes to be explored in the Trois Vallees, the resort acts as a superb base to get out and experience some of the best cross country trails in the Alps. Whether you are a seasoned cross country skier or are new to the sport, Méribel has a variety of cross country runs to suit skiers of all levels.

If you are looking to try something new on your ski holiday then trying your hand at cross country skiing is a great activity. Take in the beauty of the mountains at your own pace with a knowledgeable guide on one of the areas beautiful snowy trails. With a number of ski schools in Méribel offering cross country lessons, Méribel is an ideal place to learn how to try out this quintessentially alpine sport.

Cross country ski trails around Méribel

Méribel itself has an abundance of ski trails to discover with over 30km of trails around the resort. From complete beginner runs to advanced trails, Méribel offers cross country skiers an abundance of cross country runs. For beginners, there is a superb introductory run around Lac du Tueda in the Mottaret area. With breath taking views over the valley and a clearly marked route, this is the perfect introduction to cross country skiing.

For more experienced skiers, there is a 10km red route running from Restaurant Le Blanchot in the Altiport area. Although challenging, this run is one of the most beautiful in the area, taking skiers through snowy forests and to the top of the resort with views over into the valley and across the snow-capped mountains. if you require ski hire, this is also available, more information can be found on our dedicated ski hire page.

Cross country skiing in the Trois Vallees

The central resort of the Trois Vallees, Méribel is an ideal base for cross country skiers to explore the trails throughout the World’s largest ski area. Courchevel valley itself has nearly 70km of superb cross country trails. Located to the west of Méribel, skiers can reach Courchevel by bus or taxi, or if you fancy something really special, there are a number of helicopter services which shuttle skiers from resort to resort throughout the Trois Vallees.

The highest resort in the Trois Vallees, Val Thorens offers snow sure runs throughout the season, perfect for those visiting at the beginning or end of the season. For cross country skiers there are only 4km of runs here, however they accommodate all levels of skiers and are guaranteed to have snow all season long. Val Thorens is a great place for downhill skiers to try their hand at something new for a day or two and fall in love with cross country skiing.
