Family skiing in the French Alps is a magical experience for all the family.  Whether your children are seasoned skiers or total beginners, babies or school age, we offer our comprehensive childcare programme from 4 months to 12 years (with an additional cost), run by superb childcare team. Our recommended ski school, evening crèche and excellent childcare make for a relaxing holiday all round.

Keeping children happy, entertained and stimulated on family ski holidays can sometimes feel like a challenge. We strive to bring you the best in class childcare so both parents and children can enjoy their holiday. You don’t want the kids to miss out on having lots of fun and creating fantastic holiday memories in the French Alps at Chalet Hotel L'Ecrin.

Our proven knowledge and expertise in providing family ski holidays ensures that we have everything covered, so you can book a hassle-free holiday enhanced with fantastic childcare during your stay (just as long as you pre-book in advance).
We pride ourselves on providing outstanding childcare that you can approve as a parent, and your children will talk positively about. All childcare staff create environments that are welcoming, friendly and fun to ensure kids are content.

Our Evening Childcare service is only available for those who have booked daytime childcare and is included in the cost.

Chalet hotel L'Ecrin, perfect for families

Family skiing holidays take some planning and with that in mind, our Chalet hotel L'Ecrin in Tignes is perfect for families.

We want to make it easy for the whole family in our resort, so we’ve secured ski school places for your children with our recommended ski schools, we’ve arranged our childcare service so that it dovetails with ski school times enabling our nannies to drop off and collect for a supervised lunch. High tea is served at 5pm for the younger children and in the evenings we run a supervised evening listening service* allowing parents to have the evenings to themselves.
*Evening Childcare service is only available for those who have booked daytime childcare and is included in the cost

All our childcare staff are professional and hold either a DCE, NNEB, NVQ or equivalent qualification or have at least 2 years' relevant experience. Due to the popularity of our children's clubs, pre-booking all childcare is essential at the time of booking.

Keyworker

You will be allocated a keyworking nanny for the duration of your stay so you can confidently make the most of your day out on the slopes.

Kids off to ski school?

  • Ski school drop off

Let our childcare staff do the ski school run. Our childcare team will drop your children off and pick them up when it's over. They'll ensure they're settled into their class and collect them for lunch with the Kidz Club back at your chalet hotel.

 If they're attending a full day ski class, at the end of the day, it's back to the chalet hotel for tea.
We can only take children to/from the Mark Warner recommended ski school.

Ski lessons

Baby Club

4-11 Months

Our Baby Clubs provide a warm, homely and secure environment. We provide a keyworker so the little ones are soon settled and contented. Your baby’s day is organised to fit in with their needs and, wherever possible, to your times for naps and feeds. So when your holiday’s over, you’ll hopefully be able to slip back into your normal routine.

Toddler Club

1-2 Years

Our Toddler Club is perfectly set up for this most lively minded age group. Throughout the day our nannies provide a busy programme of games, stories, music and art to keep toddlers amused. Weather permitting, there are buggy outings and snow play for the older toddlers. Where possible, we try to ensure that children have the same keyworker all week, and we do our utmost to adapt to your child’s usual daily routine.

Mini Club

3-5 Years

Children will enjoy sledging, building snowmen and taking exciting cable car rides – often with a stop-off for a cup of hot chocolate. The action continues indoors, with a full programme that includes arts and crafts, face painting and games. For children aged 4 to 5, booked into our childcare service, our nannies can take them to our recommended ski school in the mornings and then provide an afternoon filled with fun activities.

Kidz Club

6 -12 Years

In the Kidz Club it’s all about action, with the emphasis on having fun in the snow. For children booked into our childcare service, our nannies can take them to and from our recommneded ski school and bring them back for lunch. In the afternoon, we provide a packed programme of entertainment from sledging, snow sculptures, face painting, games and treasure hunts. During peak season dates, we can take the children to and from full day ski school. Please note that it is only during these dates, we can take them to afternoon ski school as well.

Evening Childcare

4 months to 12 years

During the evenings, we offer two services - an evening listening service and a babysitting service from 7.30pm until 10.30pm five days a week (closed on transfer day and dine-out evening). The evening listening service allows parents to relax and enjoy a childfree evening meal in the chalet hotel. *This service is only available for those who have booked daytime childcare and is included in the cost. If parents would like to go out to a local restaurant, babysitting can be arranged with the Childcare Manager at an extra cost and is subject to availability. The chalet hotel crèches are fully equipped with essentials such as cots, high chairs, potties, sterilisers and a fridge.

Our chalet hotel childcare supplies travel cots and cot bedding, steam sterilisers, nappy changing facilities, baby baths and potties. Nappies, processed baby foods and powdered milk can all be bought locally, but if your child is used to a particular brand, it’s best to bring your own supplies. Please also bring a small rucksack (labelled with your child’s name) for your child’s belongings during the day.

Winter Childcare Additional Information

Children's prices

In the winter, children under 16 years old (on return date of travel) pay child prices. 

Children with additional needs

We are happy to assist should your child have any additional needs. We would ask that you telephone our Reservations team prior to booking your holiday to discuss arrangements, including the possibility of one-to-one care should it be required.

Children's mealtimes

Our chefs and childcare managers work closely together to ensure that the meals we produce are nutritious and tasty and appealing to children. If your child has any special dietary requirements or allergies, please inform us when booking your holiday.

At all mealtimes we ask that you supervise your children. Those booked into our children’s clubs will have lunch supervised by a member of the childcare team. Children who have high tea are not expected to attend dinner later, as this is essentially a grown-up occasion.

Children’s skis and boots

We offer a ‘kids pack’ of standard skis, boots and helmet for children aged from 3-12 years. Should you require a more advanced level of equipment it is advisable that you contact the ski hire shop directly.

Children's beds

Children aged two and over will have a bed. If you need a bed ‘side’ to prevent them falling out, please request this via our After Sales department on 0333 305 7121.


Illness

Your child must be completely well to be able to attend the childcare clubs. If your child is, or appears to be, in any way unwell on arrival or becomes ill during our care, we will ask you to take over your child’s care to reduce the risk of spreading infection. After a child has been excluded from our childcare facility, re-admission will be at the sole discretion of the Childcare Manage whose decision is final.

Private nannies

Unfortunately we can not allow informal supervision in our children’s clubs by nannies not employed by Mark Warner for reasons of accountability and legal responsibility.
