Skiing can sometime seem like an elite
club, for those that can! What with the technical
jargon, specialist equipment and
ski resorts that sound like
they should be in the Chronicles of Narnia, it is slightly daunting
for those of us who want to learn.
At Mark Warner we warmly welcome beginner
skiers and our aim is to help you on your way to loving the
sport as much as we do. Our sales team are on hand to answer
any questions you might have how ever small, and in resort our
experienced hotel managers and ski hosts will get you organised and
out on the slopes in no time. We will help you with eveything from
purchasing the right ski pass, organising your ski
hire and advise you on ski school (we do advise
that ski school is booked prior to departure if you are a
beginner skier to ensure your place).
Getting started is always a bit
bumpy, and the only way to learn is to take some lessons
or enroll in ski school and be taught the basics by an
expert. As a beginner, you can be assured on your
first day out on the slopes; you will fall over - a
bit!. But it's all about perservering even when a group
of 5 year olds whizz past you easy as winking
- infurating! The good news is that after the first day or
two, you will have mastered stopping (very important) and
turning - so you are ready to start skiing.
Skiing for beginners is a little more
tiring than for seasoned skiers, and at the end of the day
returning to your
chalethotel will be a
welcome sight. A hot bath, and well deserved drink in front
of the fire soon eases away those aches and pains.
All the resorts that we have on offer, cater for
the beginner skiers, some resorts are better for learning than
others. Check out resort maps and and highlighted information
on each resort page and remember you will be skiing mainly nursery
and green slopes for your first few days, progressing to blue runs
by the end of the week. At our
Chalethotel Christina,
La Plagne we run specialist
learn to ski weeks with free ski and boot hire (excludes departures
27 Dec, 14 Feb & 28 Mar).
Beginners often think they have to miss out on
the aprés ski fun, but that is not the case at all. Resort
buses run to and from the slopes down to the village, so at the end
of the day you can carry your ski's home rather than have to stand
on them!
