Road cycling at San Lucianu Beach Resort

We are delighted to be offering a fleet of hybrid bikes to San Lucianu this summer and our expert guides will lead you through the best trails on the island. Plus all of our tours are designed to fit in with childcare opening hours so you can be back in time to collect the little ones.

New bikes

  • Cannondale Quick 4 (2015) - This is a hybrid that combines the qualities of a road bike and a mountain bike and is ideally suited for exploring the predominantly tarmac surfaces that surround this resort.
  • Cannondale CAAD 8 Claris (2015) - A basic entry level road bike. FREE of charge
  • Cannondale Supersix Evo Ultegra (2016) - This full carbon road bike featuring the Shimano Ultegra groupset can be rented for half a day for €30 or €50 for a full day. If guests wish to use them for a guided tour they are charged for a half day rental. If the tour is shorter than a half day then the guest is entitled to use the bike for the remainder of the rental period for private use.

Alternatively, you may like to bring your own bike to resort, to ride alone or as part of a guided tour. Check your airline’s website for pricing and packaging requirements.

Guests have the option of exploring the area under their own steam or joining a guided tour. Tours set at Easy-going, Medium and Challenging levels and ranging from 10-60km offer something for everybody.

The Grand Tour

The Grand Tour

Difficulty: Challenging
Bike Type: Road Bike
Distance: 91.4km

The Grand Tour is by far our most epic ride on offer. First we will head North along the coastal road to Folelli before heading inland for the day. When we turn out of Folleli we will soon reach the base of the big climb which will take us all the way the town of La Porta. After La Porta, we will descend for a short time and the route flattens out all the way until we reach the town of Ortale where we will descend all the way home after a lunch stop, of course.

Our Grand Tour definitely requires a reasonable level of fitness and cycling experience to be completed but is a fantastic achievement and an unparalleled way to see the island.

Bike and Hike

Bike and Hike

Difficulty: Intermediate
Bike Type: Hybrid / Foot
Distance: 10km Bike / 3km

If you are interested in both cycling and hill walking, then this adventurous and unique tour is undoubtedly the one for you.

We will ride up a quiet tree-lined climb to a beautiful old, secluded chapel where we will lock the bikes up and set off for the next section of the adventure by foot. We will walk up a trail leading us all the way up to the picturesque mountain that can be seen from the resort. Whether or not we make it all the way to the summit, this is guaranteed to be one of the best experiences of your week by far. With the beautiful blue sea horizon to one side and the lush green mountains to another, this tour is a fantastic way to see some of Corsica’s hidden treasures.

Moriani Plage

Moriani Plage

Difficulty: Easy Going
Bike Type: Hybrid
Distance: 5.8km

This relaxed and scenic tour is the perfect way to get out of resort and socialise with fellow guests whilst familiarising yourself with the local surroundings.
It follows a similar route to our 5km runs, worth remembering if you’ll be doing our weekly triathlon. When we arrive in Moriani we will stop for a drink or an ice cream at one of the beach side café’s.
Once we’ve left the centre of Moriani we’ll head back along a quiet tree lined boulevard back to the resort.

This ride is more suited to those who are less confident on the main roads or those who perhaps haven't ridden a bike in a few years or just fancy a lovely social ride.

Cervione Town Tour

Cervione Town Tour

Difficulty: Intermediate
Bike Type: Road Bike
Distance: 23.7km

Cervione village is a picturesque settlement on the mountainside with a view out to sea to the left and to the right, a view of the surrounding mountains and woodlands.
The climb up into the town is challenging yet achievable. Taking us up to 421m, when we arrive we will refuel with a scenic café stop where we can have a coffee, ice cream or maybe even a beer to celebrate our efforts on the climb before leaving town and descending down a chestnut tree lined road. When we get back down to sea level we will take the coastal road straight back into resort.

This tour is a little more challenging than our Waterfall Tour but doesn’t climb much higher it would be a good step up. A reasonable level of fitness is required but it’s a challenge definitely worth having a go at.

Poggio Mezzana

Poggio Mezzana’s Mountain Tour

Difficulty: Challenging
Bike Type: Road Bike
Distance: 19.8km

This tour is a classic which takes in one of the best climbs in the area. We will head down the coastal road then take a left and begin the climb up into the small town of Poggio Mezzana. This climb isn’t too steep but definitely is relentless, through every corner the view gets even more spectacular as does the climb itself! When we reach the top we will take some time to revive our legs and take in the views before heading down the twisty descent back on to the coastal road to resort.

This tour is one of our more challenging rides and requires a base level of fitness but it’s well worth challenging yourself for the beautiful scenery and sense of achievement at the top.

Port de Taverna

Port de Taverna

Difficulty: Easy Going
Bike Type: Hybrid
Distance: 9km

This tour involves heading out into the countryside, in taking a short steep climb (easily walkable if need be!) then descending down onto the road which takes us straight to the Port de Taverna Marina where we will stop at a lovely bar where you can relax and watch the boats floating in and out of the port whilst enjoying a drink or an ice cream.
After that we will take the pan flat sea front road straight back to resort so you’ll be back before you know it.

This is an easy and sociable ride suitable for riders of all abilities and ice cream lovers!

San Nicolao Waterfall

San Nicolao Waterfall

Difficulty: Intermediate
Bike Type: Road Bike
Distance: 16.4km

The San Nicolao waterfall tour is perfect for those who want to take the step up from our easy going tours and is a very rewarding one at that.

The waterfall pours out of the mountain into a plunge pool and is the perfect place to stop and take a few photos with a beautiful view out to sea that you will have earned after 4km of climbing. The climb up towards the waterfall is by no means an easy feat but definitely within the reach of those new to cycling and determined to achieve something. The descent back to the hotel is to be enjoyed with care round the swooping corners and tree-lined roads.
