Ski Holidays Austria
A buzzy ski resort in a splendid location,
St Anton lives up to its
reputation as the place for big skiing, soft snow and serious
apres ski.
Perched up high in the Arlberg region of
Austria, St Anton is a delightful mix of old and new architecture
with inviting shops lining a pedestrian main street.
Although St Anton is best known as a resort for
experienced skiers and snowboarders, beginners need not be deterred
as there are nursery slopes on the edge of the village and 34
easier runs to conquer. Intermediates will find plenty of
friendly runs across Gampen, Rendl and St Christoph. For a
morale boost on perfectly groomed pistes, head over to Lech and
Zürs, easily reached by bus.
For those wanting adventure, the high speed
Telebenne or Galzig lifts take you from the resort centre to the
magnificent unpisted bowls and gullies. Also to be enjoyed is
the long blast down to Stuben where the chairlifts serve a vast
area of uncrowded north facing powder fields.
New for 2009/10 season is the Rendlbahn ski lift
- giving easy access to the Rendl area and St Anton's north and
west facing slopes.
There is a fantastic 'wellness centre' for utter
relaxation with indoor heated pool, children's pool, sauna,
whirlpool and massage.
You could mistake St Anton for a quiet and
peaceful town - until the evening when it really lights up, with
something to suit every mood from lively apres-ski to pubs,
restaurants, clubs and live music.
