Ski Cross- the new event taking the Winter Olymipics by storm

ski cross

What:
….Competitors race down a specifically adapted course to encompass both natural and artificial terrain including features like jumps, rollers, banks - whatever the course builder can imagine.  If you prefer a more vivid description, American Daron Rahlves has described it as "Motocross on skis with a little NASCAR and bull riding all thrown in there."

 When:

...The sport has been around since the early 1990s and made its debut in the '98 X Games before becomming a regular feature in the World Cup circuit in 2004.  It made it's first appearance at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

Who:

...Switzerland's Michael Schmid will go down in history as the first Olympic ski cross champion, whilst Ashleigh McIvor of Whistler raced to the top spot on the podium for the girls.

…. sadly the Brits didn't even qualify!
