Mountain Biking Holidays with Mark Warner

Free Mountain Biking

We have free mountain biking available at selected Beach Resorts in Greece, Corsica, Sardinia and Portugal. Choose to go it alone and explore the local area, or join one of our very popular, free guided mountain biking tours. Our cycle guides have a selection of tours from coastal and inland to more challenging mountainous rides. Enjoy discovering more of your holiday destination.

We recently upgraded the fleet of bikes at all of our Beach Resorts where mountain biking is on offer. Our GT Avalanche 4.0 bikes can be rented from 8am through to 7pm seven days a week. Helmets are provided.

Please note: Children must be 13 or over to use our mountain bikes.

Levante Beach

Levante Beach

Levante Beach Resort (Rhodes) Greece

There are a great selection of rides to choose from at Levante Beach. The hills surrounding the towns of Arhipoli, Psinthos and Kalithies provide some tough climbs and rewarding descents both off-road and on the asphalt. The tougher medium and challenging tours are complimented by an easy-going ride along the sea front promenade of Afandou Bay.

For those who wish to explore the local area independently, there are some stunning sites to take in. Seven Springs is a calming oasis and roughly only half an hour's ride away. Alternatively, the views from the picturesque Tsambika chapel offer a magnificent reward for those who take on the extremely tough climb (roughly one hour and not for the faint hearted!). For the most adventurous of holiday cyclists, the centre of the island can be reached after roughly two hours of outright climbing. The view from the top is breathtaking, with uninterrupted views of both the East and West coasts of the island. Needless to say the descent to Levante Beach is huge fun!

Lakitira and Helona

Lakitira and Helona Beach Resorts (Kos) Greece

There are a great range of mountain biking tours on offer at Lakitira Beach Resort for all abilities, these are available throughout the week and are free to take part in.

For guests who would like a more leisurely ride there is the Kardamena Beach Tour. This 9km trip takes guests into the local town of Kardamena with a stop at the Malibu Beach Bar where you can relax with a drink and take in the beautiful sea views. For a more challenging experience we offer a selection of tours including the 20km Yellow Brick Road tour. This takes a scenic yellow tiled path climb which leads to the foot of an abandoned fortress, with great views of the island. Another popular tour is the aptly named Peacock Forest trail that starts with a long hill climb before venturing down into the secluded and fascinating forest. Guests will have the opportunity to feed, take photos or just admire the beautiful inhabitants.

For those looking to discover the island for themselves it is also possible to hire bikes free of charge. There are many cafes and restaurants throughout Kos as well as secluded tracks with stunning scenery, we have maps available and many staff who are able to point you in the right direction, so why not take the family out for a day of discovery and adventure.

Perdepera

Perdepera Beach Resort, Sardinia

There is truly something for all levels of expertise with easy rides for everyone to much more challenging cross country and single track rides for the advanced. Our expert guides are on hand to offer advice, run tours and set up bikes for you. There are lots of tours on offer throughout the week that you are free to join whenever you wish. If you are a novice then start out by joining the easy rides where basic skills are practised and then progress onto the more challenging tours on offer.

For early birds a ‘wake up tour’ is a great way to start the day and see the local area in the amazing morning light.

Another of our favourites is the Foxi Beach tour, which runs along the impressive eight kilometre beach to a relaxing rest at a café.

For the energetic you can continue onto the local market town of Barisardo, a chance to explore a truly tradition Sardinian town. Both are excellent preparation for the more challenging tours.

South of the hotel there is dramatic scenery and wonderful coastal cycling! This is where the more challenging rides are found. There is a steady five kilometre road climb up to the high point – where you are rewarded with some great views back towards the hotel. From here you can either turn around for an exhilarating ride back or continue on the Marina de Garro medium tour or go off road and explore hidden valleys on one of the advanced single track rides through Rio Mon Guli Forest.

Dotted along the coast there are some great little café and restaurants, why not grab a bike and head out for lunch. There are some real gems to be found, just ask any of the staff who will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.

Corsica

San Lucianu Beach Resort, Corsica

Mountain Biking is extremely popular at San Lucianu, and we run guided daily bike rides with an instructor for all levels of mountain biker.

There are several routes depending on levels and trips range from 1 to 2 hours in duration. For gentle rides we explore the green valley and orange groves and mainly stay on the flat surface. For a more challenging ride, we go off road into the hills where the views are spectacular across the valley and the Mediterranean Sea.

Bikes are also available to hire leaving you free to explore the local area, the valley or further south to the local port and secluded beaches.

Ocean Club

Ocean Club Beach Resort (Algarve) Portugal

There are a range of free guided mountain bike tours available for guests.

The first heads east along the coast on mountain bike paths taking you to a quaint old fishing village. The second heads west along the coast where the beaches are more secluded and the sunsets are stunning. An inland ride takes you on forest trails lined with Eucalyptus and pine trees.
Guided tours usually take approximately 2 hours and take in a café stop at a scenic half way point.
